I read the book Oryx and Crake to a point where Jimmy and Crake were watching executions of humans on internet, Jimmy asked whether they were real or not, and Crake answered that it is in your head. If we think something is real, it is real. Jimmy and Crake became friends as they watched all sorts of things on internet. They have completely different personalities. Jimmy is good at language skills and Crake is good at scientific skills. They could not do anything else together except watching restricted videos on internet. I think their friendship is not great as they only watched strange videos together, friends means help each other and support the other when he or she needs help. They are not real friends in my mind.
