Biotechnology, a relatively new science area, is both benefiting and harming the environment of our planet. Bio tech creates some cross genetic creatures such as crops and insects which could greatly benefit our environment in many ways. Bio tech crops can cure some diseases, have more neutrinos, and will be able to grow more crops with each seed.
On the other hand though, bio tech can create much harm as well. Biotechnology possibly will destroy the food chain of the earth and may make certain species disapear. In the book, Crake created many creatures that do not grow naturally such as pigoon, a pig with many human organs. Those creatures will harm the enviornment and destroy nature in no time.
I think biotechnology should not be used often to create new species, it should be used to revive nearly extinct creatures or creatures that already disapeared from earth, dinosaur for example.
