A regular sunny day,
the clock just reaches sharp three.
Clouds floating above the tree,
children are out to play.

They think about how they may
do to entertain, until the see the bee,
working hard, flying through the leaves,
collecting honeys for the queen they obey.

We should not slack like this,
there are more things for us to do, said one boy.
Stay inside and study for the next test,
because success always finds
the most prepared guy
and rewards him the best.

What's that?
Speak up!
Tell us about the snake-thing.
A snake-thing.
He stopped, he licked his lips.
Ever so big.

Where?
You couldn't have a beastie, a snake-thing.
Did you hear that?
In the woods.
I'm scared.

But there isn't a beastie!
We'll make sure when we go hunting.

Phew~~ Finally done the book on time. I have been reading all day long. The novel, Oryx and Crake's ending is quite strange, with Jimmy heard that there are still three human being camping near him. As he procedes to them, the story ends. It really leaves to us a choice to choose between Jimmy killing the remaining three humans to maintain the peacefulness of the Crakers, or help the humans to reproduce more and more. The reality fades away, as Jimmy was invited by Crake to work for him. Crake created a pill that could change the human gene completely, to remove fear of death, the interest in art and language. He tried to make humans perferct. But then one of the bacteria breaks out and almost killed all of the humans. Crake killed Oryx by his own hand, as Jimmy sliced his throat. Jimmy survived the epidemic and saved several Crakers. He became snowman afterwards. The book ends in a mysterious manner.

I have read a lot this weekend, almost done the book. Crake and Jimmy graduates in to different schools, Crake went to a school where all the genuis study, and Jimmy went to HelthWyzer. Jimmy was able to visit Crake and have a tour of his school. He watched strange creatures like chickens with no eyes. Crake told Jimmy about the tragic of his father, his father was killed becuase he found secrets about HealthWyzer. This probably led to the destruction and diseases Crake made, he wanted to avenge his father by destroying the foul mankind and creating new perfect humans called Crakers.
As the flashback of Jimmy's life blurr, Jimmy comes back to real life. He wondered around the city as he is the only human on earth now. He found food and Utilities for him to use in an urban area. Jimmy is really lonely and isolated by the world, he tries not to forget anything that the modern world had. Not a single word. If Jimmy forgets something it will be gone for ever.

Jimmt finally met Oryx and had a conversation with her. Oryx talked about her childhood. She was born in a small village, and was soon sold by her mother to Uncle En. She went to the city where Uncle En lived and started to sell flowers for living. However, after a few months, Uncle En was found dead, floating in the canal in the city. then Oryx was sold to a "movie man" and started to film porn. Jimmy was furious when Oryx finished her story, Jimmy loves her and did not want her life to be like that. But what he does not understand is that Oryx was from a poor family, where the parents could not raise Oryx at all. They had to sell her to earn money for their son. Girls are not considered as much as a real child, even to this day, most parents in Asia want boys instead of girls. In some small villages, girls do not get to go to school at all. The situation can not be changed completely, it needs time to solve the issue.

I have finished an other couple of  chapters by now, and the novel right now is talking about Crake and Jimmy have been watching videos on internet everyday, this is almost the only thing they do. Then, one day, Crake uses his uncle's account to access websites which he and Jimmy were not supposed to go to. They went on a porn website and started watching videos, untill they finds Oryx. Oryx is an underaged girl who were in the video they watched. Jimmy found her attractive. Jimmy and Crake wanted to meet her in reality. Jimmy also asked Crake questions, but Crake did not answer any of them. Jimmy and Crake started to try to find the girl named Oryx.

I read the book Oryx and Crake to a point where Jimmy and Crake were watching executions of humans on internet, Jimmy asked whether they were real or not, and Crake answered that it is in your head. If we think something is real, it is real. Jimmy and Crake became friends as they watched all sorts of things on internet. They have completely different personalities. Jimmy is good at language skills and Crake is good at scientific skills. They could not do anything else together except watching restricted videos on internet. I think their friendship is not great as they only watched strange videos together, friends means help each other and support the other when he or she needs help. They are not real friends in my mind.

I read the novel to a point which Jimmy met Crake at school, Jimmy didn't have a lot of friends at school, he couldn't do math well enough. Jimmy had lingustic skills instead of scientific skills. On the other hand Crake was gifted at doing math and science. At Jimmy;s time, mathmetic skills have a greater role than linguistic skills. People who can do math well earn more money, and others who can not do it do no earn as much as them do. Those math-gifted people were viewed as successful men and others were not as much. I realize this in our society too, especialy in the Asian community. Asians are well known as the gifted math students, most people in my math class are Chinese or Korean, the parents do not look at English, Socials and other subjects the same way as sciences and maths. This is a big problem, as i think every course has its importance, and should be viewed equally.

Biotechnology, a relatively new science area, is both benefiting and harming the environment of our planet. Bio tech creates some cross genetic creatures such as crops and insects which could greatly benefit our environment in many ways. Bio tech crops can cure some diseases, have more neutrinos, and will be able to grow more crops with each seed.
On the other hand though, bio tech can create much harm as well. Biotechnology possibly will destroy the food chain of the earth and may make certain species disapear. In the book, Crake created many creatures that do not grow naturally such as pigoon, a pig with many human organs. Those creatures will harm the enviornment and destroy nature in no time.
I think biotechnology should not be used often to create new species, it should be used to revive nearly extinct creatures or creatures that already disapeared from earth, dinosaur for example.

Reflection

I just finished chapter two by now. The story appears to be interesting to me, Jimmy, the Snowman, is thinking back to his previous life before the destruction of mankind. When his mother and father are having an argument of burning his own hair. Although he cut it off his head when he burned it. Jimmy's mother was furious about it. But his father was feeling funny that Jimmy was doing that. His mother was mad and started the argument. Then she slammed the door in his father's face. Jimmy felt sorry that because of his actions, he made his parents mad.

             I am reading this novel called "Oryx and Crake" by Margaret Atwood, a famous Canadian writer. I chose this book becuase of it's notability and it's famousness. I have heard of this book many times, and a couple of my friends have suggested me to read this book.
            This novel talks about Snowman, the only human being left on earth, and his life with a couple of "man" who are perfect in any concept. These "man" were created by Crake, a super intellegent human who also created the virus that destroyed all human beings.
           The story is really interesting to me. I am looking forward in reading this novel over this period of time. Right now i have read just past the first chapter of the book, and i currently think the book is pretty interesting and will likely to finish it in a couple of days.

The animals run and run, but the monster is still behind them. They run and run. Other animals joined the group, sheep, horse, wolves, zebra; they do not have the nerve to face the monster at all.
 Then, little monkey shows up, “Ehhh, what’s going on? What’s going on? Why is everyone running?”  “The monster is coming!” “What monster, what monster?? Tell me, tell me.” “This monster is really huge, bigger than our friend Mr. Elephant. “Bunny one says. “NO, it is bigger than that; it is like nothing we have seen before!” Bunny two says. “You guys are all wrong! It is not that big, but big enough to eat us all!!” Bunny three yells. “I’ll go check out, no worries guys.” The monkey hops on to the horse, and starts to rush back to the lake. The other monsters decide to wait here and see what happens.
 The monkey rides back to the lake, and sees nothing but a peaceful lake. “Ehhhh, there is nothing around here. The bunnies are pranking us!” but suddenly, the sound appears again, “BOOM” “Ehhh, what is that sound?” “BOOOM” the sound comes again. The horse starts running without the monkey’s control. “The monster, the monster is coming.” “Ehhh, stop running, stop running!” the monkey tries to stop the horse from running, but he fails to. The horse and the monkey come back from the lake, and the horse runs and yells, “MONSTER!!! MONSTER!!” the animals are scared, and continue to run forward. They passed the river, passed the bushes, and through the mountain.
 The mountain is where the king lives; the fearless lion king governs all the forest. “What are you midgets doing up here?  This is my land, without my permission, none of you can come up to me.” “Oh please forgive us, we are running away from the monster, which is going to eat us all!” “WHAT MONSTER, that is complete nonsense. I have governed this land for over thirty years, no monster has ever appeared.” “But... But we have seen it.” "it's ok.I will take care of it. Do not worry" The King climbs down the mountain and leads the pack back to the lake where the bunnies have seen the monster.
 When they arrive at the lake, nothing, NOTHING is there. "What the hell are you guys scared about, there is nothing here." "BOOM" The sound appears again, "WHAT was that?" the lion king turns back and finds nothing. "BOOOM" "What the heck is going on? What is that sound?" "that is the monster we were talking about, but you wouldn't listen." Bunny four says. "BOOM" the sound is there again. "The monster is coming to eat us all!!! we need to run away now!!!" "wait a second," the monkey says, "i think i know what it is now." he pointd at the papaya tree. The other animals turned around and see a papaya fruit dropping from the tree into the water, "BOOM" there goes the sound again. "Ahhaha, it is the papaya fruit, haha we are totally fooled by that." Bunny one laughed.
 It is another peaceful day inside the Tavern Forest, animals are playing and enjoying the sweetness of the papaya fruit.

The Monster (I)

                On a peaceful day in the Tavern Forest, weather appeared to be good throughout the day. Little bunnies are playing hide and seek around the lake in the forest. Flocks of bird are flying above the cloud. It’s another normal day.

                Suddenly, the bunnies hop out of the papaya bushes, while they are running they are also screaming: “Everyone, run for your lives!! Everybody run!! The Splashing Monster is coming to eat us all! The monster is coming!!”

                The pusillanimous bear is the closest to the little bunnies. This bear is always afraid of things, and decides to run with the bunnies. While he runs he also yells with his roaring voice: “The HORRIBLE SPLASHING MONSTER is coming to eat us all, we need to get out of here immediately!” He even forgets to bring with him his honey jar, which he always brings no matter anything, but the Splashing monster had made him lost his mind.

                Then the fox joined their group, the fox is one of the brightest fellows in the forest, he stops the bunnies and the bear, and asks them to go back to the lake where the bunnies had seen the monster. Bunny one said: “I have seen the monster, it is really big, probably bigger than our lion king,” “No, it is much smaller than that, it has the same size as the bear.” Bunny two disagrees. “No, it is bigger!” “Smaller!!” “BIGGER!!!!!!” “Can everyone just stop a second please?” the fox stops the argument. “What we need to do, is to go back to the area quietly and stealthy as much as we can do, and then discover what this monster truly is. “OK, but you will go back alone; we will not be coming with you.” says the coward bear. The fox agrees and goes back to the lake by himself while the bunnies and the coward bear continue forward.

                On the way back, the fox is thinking what this monster truly is, and trying to capture it by himself to gain fame around the forest. “Hmm, the splashing monster, that doesn’t sound scary. Maybe it is just an small rat.” The fox keeps thinking that the “monster” is nothing but a small creature. “Yeah, because he rabbits are small, what they think is big might not even appear in my eyes. I am so smart.” The fox walks toward the lake, but before he reaches the edge of the lake. “Boom” the sound terrified him. “What was that? Oh My Goodness, it is the monster the bunnies were talking about! Oh NOO!!!” he starts running, and yelling, “The Monster is coming, it is real!!! We can never escape from it. Run away, from this horrible monster!”

                While the fox discovers the identity of the monster, the group fleeing for their lives also meets the eldest animal in the forest, Mr. Turtle. Turtle has been in the forest about two hundred years, even the king respects him as an elder. While the bunnies and the bear meet the turtle, they told him the news about the monster as well. Turtle says, “There hasn’t been a monster since I was born. I don’t believe this one is true either.” and tells the bunnies and the coward bear not to run anymore. The bunnies listen to the elder and decide not to run forward, but the coward bear hides behind the rock, and hopes the monster is not true. Soon, the fox comes, “Run! RUN!!!! The monster is coming to ear us all!!!!” and runs forward with full speed. The bunnies follow him quickly. The bear jumps out of the rock and runs behind them. The turtle, however, is too slow to run and just shrinks inside his shell tries to hide from the monster.

Most peope tend to think i am an indoor, languish person instead of an active sportsman, and it is true that i spend more time within my own house. I am more of a sedentary person, i prefer staying at home and just relaxing without thinking (Chilling). I often play games or read novels when i have time, sometimes prepare a meal for myself or even do some lundaries. I prefer enjoying myself in quiet. I often feel good when staying by myself, when my parents take me to shopping, almost everytime I will tell them to finish quickly, i do not enjoy being in the public for a long time, i prefer living in my own sanctuary. However, i am an outdoor person as well. I play a lot of sports when my friends contact me, but usually not on my own. I can play almost every sport, basketball, tennis, golf. I consider myself as a mixed person, sometimes active sometimes quiet; it depends on the mood i am on currently. If i am in a happier mood, or something happened just made me happy, i will usually go outside and enjoy playing sports, but  will never go shopping for over three hours, the resist towards staying in the public is in my blood. Other times i will just stay home and play games by myself. Overall I am both a sedentary person and an outdoor person, both outdoor and indoor attract me during my free hours.
